Project Narrative
The Nest is a contemporary residential remodel shaped by the presence of a century-old Sycamore tree whose canopy embraces the entire property. More than a backdrop, this extraordinary tree guided the design from concept to materiality, becoming the project’s defining element.
The architecture organizes itself around a central axis that frames and honors the Sycamore. Beginning at the street, this transparent corridor extends uninterrupted to the tree, establishing a direct visual and spatial connection. The axis continues vertically through the second floor, where a full-height window brings the canopy into view from above, and further still to the roof, where the roofline is deliberately broken to frame the tree at its crown. In this way, the house does not merely sit beside the sycamore, but lives in dialogue with it.
